Surviving was iffy for a few minutes yesterday morning, when the Mr. snapped the light on at 6 Am with no warning. It was cruel. So cruel. But I got up and got on with it, and actually, it was a pretty easy morning. The girls came over with hair already brushed and braided, and the menu was frozen waffles with syrup, cheddar Little Smokies, and pineapples and applesauce on the side. Pineapples for Claire, Applesauce for Arya, as she despises pineapples and always has. This morning before they arrived I hurried to make sure all the Christmas decorations were lit up for them, the manger with the electric star on top, the train set on the mantle, with all of the village houses lit up, and the Toilet Paper Christmas Choir singing their Christmas Carols. They were in awe of it all, and when the spied the TPCC, the two of them broke out in Tra la la's, singing in unison. It was absolutely adorable and I am still mentally kicking myself for not having my camera with me. We had our Jelly Bellies from the advent calendar, and there was still time for them to watch some TV before school.
This morning I was still in bed when the call came that they were on their way. I jumped out of bed and got dressed but there was no time to light everything up before they got here. As before, their hair was done and we were having waffles. We had a whole half hour to spare before school.
School time, and we headed out the door just as a hailstorm came down on our heads! Hurry girls! Hurry hurry! Then it was over. It lasted maybe two minutes. I turned the car out of the driveway and Claire was almost shouting for "Baby Grandma". But this morning there was a twist. And I almost had to pull over, I was laughing so hard.
First it was Arya. Claire, Gramma is NOT a baby! She is just a woman! She is JUST a woman! Claire was having none of that. Baby Grandma, Baby Grandma, eat your strawberries! NO! I replied, very firmly, in in that high whiny Baby Grandma voice that makes them giggle. No VEGetables! NO broccoli! How come you all don't ever have any other vegetables but broccoli? How about green beans, corn or salad?
And then Arya cracked.me.up. Baby Gramma, you better listen to your Muvver and your Faader. And that is exactly how she pronounced it. Your Muuver and your Faader want you to eat healthy things, so eat your Green Bean Corn Saaalad!
And then she said I'll be your Muvver. And Claire can be your Faader. But Claire was having none of that. NO! I want to be her mother, too!
Then, said Arya, and this is where I almost lost it. Okay, I will be the angel Muvver, and you can be the demon Muvver! Ok! Said Claire! And that is exactly what they did. They were hilarious!
I dropped them at the door with lots of laughter. They were laughing, I was laughing, the teacher burst into laughter when I sang out, don't forget to eat your broccoli green bean corn saaalad!
Back home I settled into my chair with all the heating apparatus on high, because it turned out to be unexpectedly cold this morning. The joint pain was out of this world and I just didn't want to move. So I pulled up my giant book and got out my magnifier so I could read the miniscule words. I started in Genesis 1. In the Beginning God created the heavens and the earth. I got all the way to verse 20 before my eyes lit on something. God is creating the sea creatures and swarming creatures. This is directly translated from the Hebrew, and I have never seen this in an english version, but it answers an age old question. Do animals have souls? I have heard many people say no. BUT THEY ARE WRONG! It says And God said, Let the waters swarm with the swarmers, HAVING a soul of life; And again, further down in the next verse. And God created the great sea animals, and all that creeps, having a living soul, which swarmed the waters.
And in verse 24 God said, Let the earth bring forth the soul of life, according to it's kind: Cattle and creepers and it's beasts of the earth according to it's kind.
I am LOVING this book! It is going to take me YEARS to read it, though.
Later, the Mr. being at the VA for a therapy appointment, I put my music on very loud and proceeded to do some cleaning up. My phone rang and it was Katie, who had injured herself on the job and needed a ride to the hospital. I had no car, as the Mr. had taken it, so I was no help whatsoever. She didn't sound great, but she was able to get her sister in law to take her. Apparently she was putting drinks up in the cooling case, and the apparatus that is supposed to keep the drinks from rolling backwards and falling on her head failed because it was broken, and she got nailed right between the eyes by a beer can. She was bleeding and having some light headedness. They checked her out and she was ok, but I had to get the girls from school. We had a good snack and watched more (very mindless) TV and then mama was home so I took them home. Then took 100 mgs of Tylenol, put a pain patch on each knee and blessedly fell asleep.
Great but very tiring day. I believe tomorrow will be sunny and warmer, so maybe the joint pain will be less. If so I plan on putting the Christmas lights in the yard.
But I think I will sleep in first.
