There aren't any words...

San Diego Sunset
I was born at the beach. Well, OK, I wasn't born at the beach, but I was born in Redondo Beach, Ca. And the hospital was in South Bay, so I guess you could say I was born at the beach, although it wouldn't technically be true. All my life I have been fascinated by the ocean, the roar of the waves as they break the shore and grace the sand with their lacy patterns and vanish back whence they came...the color of the sky where it meets the water and that unmistakable smell of sea air. And the sunsets. I love love love going to the beach. I have missed it since I left San Diego in 2000. So when I came to back to California six weeks ago the first thing I wanted to do, was of course, find a beach. And I wanted to take pictures of anything and everything. The seagulls were very accommodating as far as posing for  pictures, I found them very entertaining. There are so many different varieties of seagulls, and each seagull looks a little different from his feathered brother.
Today I decided a day trip to Seaside, Ca was in order. The kids were kind of reluctant to go with me. To my amazement, they do not seem to enjoy it as much as I do. They would rather sleep. But I talked (and by talked I mean bribed) them into it. After about an hour drive (mostly because I kept getting lost) we finally arrived.
There was a flock of seagulls on the beach just waiting for my arrival. Armed with my camera and the new longer lens I followed them down the beach as they ran and flew away from me. I watched them run into the waves in search of whatever the surf might bring up for nourishment and I watched them play in the water, some of them running from the waves over and over as if in a game of tag.
Duck Duck Goose anyone?

Babies

I took some pictures of what I thought were baby seagulls. I was googling images of baby seagulls (which I don't think they are, after all) when I came across THIS.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIc3Y94nsDM&feature=player_embedded I have NO WORDS. WHO would be so sick that they would actually take the time to cut up a beer can and collar a bird with it?? Who in the WORLD WOULD be so SICK. I hope they catch the sons of guns who did this and soon. And I hope they put a beer can collar on them while they think about it in jail.
