Give a Hoot! Don't (personally) Pollute!

I had the remote in my hand. I was on the verge of changing the channel when a commercial with a baby came on. Now I've always been a sucker for babies, so I stayed my hand. The baby was cute. It giggled. I think it rolled over. Then unexpectedly, the baby farted. This really caught my attention, but not more so than the following words which shall remain engraved on my brain as long as I live. "It's never too early to think about Personal Pollution", the honey tongued voice informed me.
It was so--unexpected. My mouth literally dropped open. The voice went on to further inform me that I was poisoning my land with my leaking sewer and my fertilizer for my lawn. Now I don't have an issue with the leaking septic tanks, or the fertilzer getting washed down the drain, that's a problem no one can really argue with.
But let's talk about Personal Pollution for a moment, shall we?
For the record I don't have an issue with Personal Pollution either. I'm totally against it. I'm especially against it when my husband's Personal Pollution invades my space in the middle of the night after a really good steak complete with mushrooms, onions, and a baked potato on the side.
But what are they really saying here? Are they seriously inferring that farting is bad for the environment? I mean come on. Really? Am I really so powerful that my Personal Pollution is capable of ripping a hole in the ozone layer? I get that the commercial's main focus was leaking septic tanks and runoff from fertilizer, but it was just that little nudge about farting, that got my goat. I'm envisioning a world in which we are all taking some kind of a drug to control our gas so we can "help the environment". It will be the "politically correct" thing to do.
I can't help thinking of that butter commercial from the seventies, you know the one...It's not NICE to fool Mother Nature!
There's an element of truth there...

...And here is another ummm...interesting commercial made by the same group. I will leave you to your own conclusions.

note: I really hoped the baby video would be on youtube, but it's only on facebook. It's under "groups" and you type TAPP personal pollution into the searchbar and click on the one with the baby.
