The Battle Continues

Look what they have done to my house!

I woke up this morning and went outside to take the kids to school. I heard a funny sound and looked up to the gable and sure enough, AJ the squirrel was sitting inside the gable slats having a meal of my house. I went into action immediately, grabbing a ball and throwing it up there as hard as I could. The ball fell short (it's a LONG way up to the gable, probably thirty feet) and he just continued chewing. When the ball came down, Sam, who thought I wanted to play, grabbed the ball and ran off with it. I grabbed another ball and tried again, and again and again. He didn't budge. Just sat there mocking me and eating my house. Finally in utter frustration I left the ball and went after stronger ammunition. The never fail option when all else DOES fail. The water hose. (Normally I would NEVER squirt water up into my attic, but I this called for emergency action.) It took a minute because it hadn't been used since last fall and it was all in a tangle. By the time I got it unwound I was dirty and muddy but undeterred. I turned it on full blast and aimed high. DIRECT HIT! At first he withdrew as far as he could go inside the slats (he can't go in the attic, there is a board covering the inside) and finally FINALLY he emerged dripping wet and ran off into the trees. VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!! At least 'til next time.
