Saturday morning. Couldn't wait to get into the office this morning and work on my little Victorian chapel. First thing I did was cut out the "petri dish" and replace it with a more realistic looking stained glass made out of tissue paper fragments. I had a piece of sticky lamination paper, and I peeled off the sticky side, and then cut tiny little fragments and let them fall onto the sticky side. I pressed them all down so they would stick well, and then cut out a round shape and Voila, a stained glass window! I outlined everything and put a little gold cross on the top of the bell tower and considered it pretty much done. And then I cut it all apart. I hated it. The more I looked at it the more I hated it. So back to square one. I'm keeping the bell tower and the stained glass, and the door. Everything else is a redo.
But something funny happened while I was sitting in the office, cutting out paper, before the tear down, and talking to Sis on the phone. Mid sentence I stopped while my brain exploded with yet ANOTHER great idea! It was the wrapping paper in the bin right next to the desk. The good kind of wrapping paper, thick, with some foil detail. The print was nutcrackers, each about six inches high, and several different styles. Did I mention that my daughter loves nutcrackers? She has hundreds and every year since she was a little girl we have given her at least one nutcracker each Christmas. My eyes locked on that paper and conversation with my sister ceased. Ju? Are you there? All I could see in my head was toilet paper nutcrackers, just like the toilet paper choir! A whole set! My daughter would LOVE this! Something handmade by me!
Yes I have LOST.MY.MIND! But in the best possible way!
This is going to be GREAT! But shhh...don't tell her!
Tomorrow is going to be a long day. Church with the girls in the morning, and then heading off to Grandma's house to drop off Ally. Grandma will be taking her to the airport Monday morning to go to Hawaii. We will be going to a hotel with the girls for the night, and then coming home Monday morning. We would have had to be up with them at six AM on Monday morning anyway, and we don't like to drive in the dark, so we decided to just stay overnight and make it fun.
