More Providence

Thinking about yesterday's little adventure in God's providence got me thinking about other times in the past when He has come to the rescue. One of those times was when I got my "new to me" cell phone earlier this year.
I had a Palm Centro. I absolutely loved my Palm. Let me correct that; I loved my Palms. I have had three to date.
The first one I had was hot pink and I accidentally left it on my deck. In the rain. I was heartbroken. My husband, feeling sorry for me ordered me a new one. It came in the mail a couple of days later. It was a beautiful green and it matched my purse to boot. I loved that phone. I loved it so much that I took it in the shower with me one day and accidentally dropped it in the toilet. *sigh*.
This time my husband was out of town. And Sprint had stopped making Palm Centros. I was lost without my phone. I called Sprint and asked if there was any way anywhere I could get another Palm. The answer was a firm no. I hung up and had a conversation with the Lord that went like this. "Lord, I really love this phone, and if there is a way that I could find another Palm, can you help me. If not I accept that I'm going to have to change to something else. But I really really don't want to."
Later that day I decided to go to Walmart to see what they had in stock. It turned out they had absolutely nothing I was interested in but as I stood in line behind another lady who was waiting for customer service I noticed she had a sky blue Palm Centro. I said "That's what I've been looking for, but they don't make them anymore." she replied "I know, aren't they great?"
I walked away and came back a few minutes later to ask the clerk a question. Again I was waiting in line. To my surprise the lady with the blue phone approached me. "I am buying an Iphone and am wondering if you are interested in buying this one from me." My eyes flew wide open. I couldn't believe it. The answer to my prayer! I still hesitated though, (silly me) and told her I would have to think about it. I got her phone number and went out to my car as I made up my mind. I called the number and she said she would come to my house. I was on top of the world. As I drove home the clouds lifted and the rain stopped. A huge rainbow formed over the highway in glorious 3D color. I was so excited I was almost dancing in my car. I got to the house and a few minutes later she pulled up. She came in and we traded phone and money, but then I noticed that the phone was an AT&T. Ugg. We both were kind of deflated when we realized that it probably wasn't going to work. She asked me to call the number to see if I could use it anyway and the answer was again, a firm no.
So she took the phone back and I stowed the money back in my purse and she left. As she drove out of the driveway I said another little prayer. "Okay, Lord, that must not have been what you intended. I submit to Your will. I choose to trust you anyway." The phone rang again. It was the blue phone lady. She said "Julie it must be your lucky day. You will never believe this in a million years. The girl I was at WalMart with just told me she has a Sprint Palm Centro almost brand new, still in the box, with all of the accessories and she wants to sell it to you for the same price." (50$)
Within five minutes she was back with her friend and the new phone. I gave her the fifty bucks, she gave me the phone and then left. I called customer service to switch from my old phone to my new one. The man answered the phone. "Sprint customer service, how can I help you?" "WELL! Let me tell you!" I said. "Let me tell you how I divinely acquired my new Sprint cell phone!" He replied doubtfully, "divinely?" I said "YES! diVINELY" (in my best Billy Graham voice). I was laughing. I couldn't remember being that happy in a long time. By now he was starting to sound kind of upbeat. "How DID you divinely acquire your new Sprint cell phone?" He said. I began to tell him the story of my day. When I was finished he said "I would definitely have to agree with you that that WAS divine intervention. I just want to tell you that you have made my day". He almost sounded as pleased as I was.
As I hung up the phone and went about my evening I couldn't say Thank You enough to God. I love my new black cherry colored Palm Centro. Only God could hear my petition for a phone that Sprint doesn't even make anymore and provide me with one by the day's end. And a rainbow to boot. I am amazed that He loves me enough to care for my little distresses as well as the big ones. Thank You again, Lord.
